Henri-Edmond Cross' art belongs to the later years of Neo-Impressionism. He started painting landscapes in oil and watercolour when he moved to a small village on the Cote d'Azur, using a palette of vivid colours. He favoured a style of painting characterised by long touches, in decorative patterns, similar to the mosaic.
